Originated, sponsored and led the end-to-end development of Indonesia’s first unsolicited large-scale utility Solar PV power plant. Identifying the opportunity independently, providing early-stage founding capital, and carrying full development risk from concept through to PLN approval. Commercial Operations Date (COD) was achieved in 2020. The project was independently originated without a government tender or institutional sponsor. It was created from scratch and taken through the full regulatory and commercial process by Simon and his team at Quantum. The project created a long-term revenue stream of approximately US$ 50 million and demonstrated a model for utility-scale renewable energy origination in an emerging market context.
